Silver Rainbow aims to build the capacity of aged care services to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) older people.
Silver Rainbow provides coaching, training and tailored support to aged care organisations to adopt inclusive policies and practices.
Depending on the length of training, learning objectives may include:
- Increase understanding of the lived experience of LGBTI older people.
- Increase knowledge of aged care sector requirements and their application to providing inclusive care.
- Increase knowledge and skills in providing inclusive environments for LGBTI older people accessing aged care services.
- Introduce principles of person centred and trauma-informed care, and application to supporting LGBTI older people.
- Increase skills in communicating effectively and respectfully with LGBTI older people.
